Ridder-HortiMaX and Prominent sign partnership with Chinese Hainan Runda group

Last Friday, the Hainan Runda group visited the Westland area together with a delegation from the province of Hainan in southern China. The Dutch tomato growers Prominent signed an agreement to provide their growing knowledge and Ridder-HortiMaX to provide greenhouse automation, fertigation and management systems to optimize the output of their greenhouses on the island in the South China Sea.

On behalf of Ridder-HortiMaX, Fulco Wijdogen, General Manager of Ridder-HortiMaX China signed the agreement to supply the greenhouse automation and water treatment equipment for a new 7-hectare cutting edge Dutch-style greenhouse, including a modern packing facility. According to HortiMaX’s Joep van den Bosch, Hainan Runda is a Chinese investment group with a good understanding and appreciation of Dutch greenhouse technology. In addition to the new equipment, they also value the added services and support provided by our Chinese support center”.

According to Prominent's Ferdi van Elswijk, the closer cooperation between Prominent and Hainan Runda is a logical next step. Over the past two years, both parties have visited each other frequently in order to explore the possibilities. The Chinese investor already owned a total of 20 hectares on the island of Hainan, and last year they expanded with an advanced 7-hectare high-tech greenhouse. "Like no one else, we know how to operate these greenhouses and produce as efficiently as possible. The signing of this agreement underscores our will to work together."
